BACKGROUND WEBSITE CREATION EDUCATION

Education in Welfare promotes knowledge, understanding, skills, attitudes, and values related to animals, but also encourages general attitudes. Empathy is believed to be a crucial element often lacking in today's society and underpinning behaviors of indifference, neglect, and violence.

Research and documentation prove that there is a link between cruelty to animals in childhood and later-life criminality, violence, and anti-social behavior. The connection between violence towards animals and violence towards humans reveals that cruelty to animals often has a domino effect. When adults do not respect, neglect, abuse, or harm animals, it initiates a process of desensitization or loss of feeling in our children. They become able to witness neglect, harm, injure, or kill animals without experiencing a response. Habitual neglect and cruelty mean that abuse has become a routine part of children's lives and is accepted as normal. Lack of empathy leads to dehumanization as it hinders children's emotional development, and they are unable to realize their full potential as emotionally mature adults.

We can break this cycle and replace it, among other things, with empathy, respect, responsibility, and compassion, which are necessary to build a better and kinder society.

BACKGROUND HOW
THIS ALL STARTED

Since the beginning, education has been a top priority for JAAN. Because we realize that education equals change and remember one of Nelson Mandela's words: "Education is the most powerful weapon you can use to change the world." We started designing the concept for this website after JAAN had the opportunity to make a presentation to the Governor of the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government regarding animal welfare.

After that, we started designing content and developing the concept further. Coupled with regular meetings to present our progress and 5 months of hard work, we are finally ready to meet again with the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government. Then in order to celebrate this important achievement and to socialize the Mass Education Program, JAAN held a launch event for this program at Jakarta City Hall (DKI Jakarta Governor's Office) in North Jakarta on February 7 2016 and the event was very successful!

In 2017, some of our educational programs were broadcast on large LED screens throughout Jakarta. We're still going continuing program development during 2017-2018. However, due to lack of funds, we were forced to not be able to make major changes so this program was hampered.
